This system is usually set to a specific rpm (4,500) and greatly increases horsepower.

The Intelligent Variable Timing and Lift Electronically Controlled (i-VTEC) system is a more advanced system that replaced VTEC in 2000. It adds additional controls for the intake valves at low and medium throttle levels to improve low-end and partial throttle response. Therefore, the i-VTEC system provides overall better performance at all engine operation levels.
