Perodua Axia Basic Features

Interior

The interior of the Perodua Axia are largely similar across variants. All variants have a flexible seating arrangement where the rear bench can be folded down, seat back pockets on the driver and passenger seats, cup holders, and a multi-purpose storage container. The Axia Style and AV has smart entry and push start/stop button as well as semi-bucket seats while other variants get standard equipment. Being a budget car, the interior trim is mostly plastic but the finish and quality of the material have come a long way from when the Viva was produced.

Exterior

All Perodua Axia variants are fitted with halogen lights and have similar external features. However, the higher variants have different styling accessories to spice up their looks. The range-topping Axia AV variant has a more refined front bumper and side skirtings. It also has retractable side mirrors with turn signals, a spoiler, and 14-inch alloy rims.

The Axia GXtra has similar styling as the AV but without turn signals on the side mirrors and without a spoiler. The Axia Style is the most unique-looking out of the bunch. It has a rugged SUV-like styling with a sporty front bumper, roof moldings, black side skirtings, two-tone side mirrors, a spoiler, and alloy wheels.

Cabin Space

The Perodua Axia is compact and very easy to maneuver around town. Although not huge, its interior has decent space measuring 1,900 mm long, 1,385 mm wide, and 1,240 mm tall. Except for the Style, the Perodua Axia has an external measurement of 3,645 mm long, 1,620 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall. The Style measures 3,650 mm long, 1,625 mm wide, and 1,510 mm tall. The 260-liter boot space is good for a car of this segment and is expandable with the foldable rear seats.

Infotainment system

The base E variant is barebones without an infotainment system. Moving up, the G has a standard audio system with USB connectivity and two speakers. The 1.0 GXtra and 1.0 Style, on the other hand, pairs the same audio system with four speakers. The SE variant’s audio system has USB and Bluetooth support while the range-topping AV has a touchscreen display multimedia system with navigation, Android Smart Link, USB, Bluetooth, and HDMI connectivity. All variants except the E and G have four speakers.

Perodua Axia Driving Performance

All Perodua Axia variants are powered by a 1.0L engine with electronic fuel injection (EFI) and Variable Valve Timing-Intelligent (VVT-i). It produces a max power of 67 PS at 6,000 rpm and a max torque of 91 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The Axia is very frugal when it comes to fuel consumption. The manual E variant has a fuel economy of 4.4 L/100 km while the other variants with the automatic transmission consume 4.6 L/100 km of fuel. With only a 1.0L engine, the Axia accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in over 15 seconds.

Perodua Axia Safety Features

The Perodua Axia may be a basic A-segment car but it manages to get a 4-Star ASEAN NCAP Safety Rating. All variants have two SRS airbags and ISOFIX. Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) is available on all except the base E variant. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRC), and anti-snatch hooks are available on all except G and E variants.

The range-topping AV gets Advanced Safety Assist (A.S.A) 2.0 which includes Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert, and Pedal Misoperation Control. The SE and AV variants also get additional features which are solar and security window film, and front corner sensors.

The Perodua Axia provides excellent value for money. It’s affordable, economical to drive and maintain and even has Perodua’s A.S.A 2.0 on the AV variant. For the price, the Perodua Axia has no comparable competitors.
